Ahead of the African Games in Casablanca, Morocco, in August this year, the Head Coach of Nigeria’s national volleyball male team, Japhet Nuhu, has expressed optimism that Nigeria would qualify from the zonal qualifiers.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) reports that the qualifiers is billed for Abidjan from the May 17 to May 24.
Speaking to Sports Writers at the close of their camp in Kaduna on Wednesday, Nuhu said the Nigeria team was already in high spirit and had prepared adequately to emerge victorious.
He said that for several years now, Nigeria had always qualified, adding that it won’t be a different situation this time around.
“The blend of energy, stamina and experience being witnessed here in the camp by the players will doubtlessly give us victory over our competitors.
“The level of fitness of the players is quite impressive and will give us an edge over others,” he said.
The Technical Director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Martins Melandi, disclosed that three professionals were invited to join the home-based players to further strengthen the team for better performance.
“With the players in high spirit, experienced coaching crew, I am confident of our qualification,” he said.
One of the invited foreign players, Ogwuche Samuel from Libya also expressed optimism that the team would make Nigeria proud.
The President NVBF, Musa Nimrod, was also on ground to cheer the players.
