A popular blogger, Ikedinachukwu David Morgan, who is also the CEO/Founder of Daveplay, has said that very soon Afrobeat will be the No. 1 genre in the world.

Mr Morgan stated this while speaking about the underground backings bloggers played to most Afrobeat artists across the globe.

According to him, most international artists are looking for ways to feature Afrobeat artists “which is so unrealistic like before”.

“Very soon, afrobeat will be the No. 1 genre in the world because now, most international artists are looking for ways to feature Afrobeat artists which is so unrealistic like before.

“Afrobeat has made waves for so many people and will continue to do so in years to come,” he added.

The Daveplay CEO also disclosed that unity plays a good role in the development of Afrobeat around the globe.

He said: “Certainly unity plays a significant role in the growth of afrobeat music. We have gained recognition in the music industry all over the world within a short period.

“It gives me joy to see our artists being given their flowers for their great work in pushing the train our forefathers laid.

“Afrobeat is our root. We West Africans are known for it, particularly in Nigeria. It combines traditional African rhythms with nightlife, jazz, and other influences.”

He also said even the two competitive artists (Davido and Wizkid) still have a bond together.

“They have their backs even if the internet or fans think they hate themselves but they still have love for themselves. It’s just the media and fans trying to crush down the leading artist meanwhile they are on good terms,” Mr Morgan said.

“No one sees how many times Davido promotes Wizkid studio project and Wizkid does the same.

“They push themselves and promote each other anywhere in the world even while receiving musical awards. The unity is there even if they are away, they will always want to stick together and do shows.

The Daveplay CEO also disclosed that bloggers have also helped in pushing Afrobeat its artists into international stardom.

Mr Morgan said he has been promoting the Afrobeat industry for over seven years of being in the blogging industry, especially through his Instagram handle, @daveplay_blogger.

He also said he promoted upcoming artists by keeping their fans updated so their names would be relevant.
