The Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has lambasted his immediate-past predecessor and serving senator, Rabiu Kwankwaso, suggesting that his former ally’s presidential ambition was “stupidity”.
Addressing a pro-Buhari rally on Thursday in Kano, Mr Ganduje said some people were wishing death on the president in order to succeed him in 2019.
DAILY NIGERIAN observes that Mr Kwankwaso’s political movement, Kwankwasiyya, is currently opening branches nationwide.
“Some people have been praying against Buhari’s return,” Mr Ganduje began, “the saddest part of it was that while they prayed against Buhari’s return, someone is busy opening campaign offices across the country, scheming for Buhari’s seat. This is calamity. This is disaster. This is hypocrisy. This is stupidity.”
While noting that they would pray to God not to allow those wishing death on the president succeed, the governor raised alarm that there are saboteurs in the ruling APC.
“In APC, there are some bad eggs that are sabotaging President Buhari. Let me assure them that they could not get at the president’s Achilles’ heel and the party would soon expel them,” he said.
The governor also said Mr Buhari has turned around the Nigerian economy and performed well in the fight against insurgency and corruption.
“Look at how communities were liberated from Boko Haram insurgents and members of the community are returning back to their homes.
“Look at how looters are being arrested and trillions of naira recovered by Buhari administration.
“Buhari is also performing well in revamping the economy. He has all it takes to have our supports. Therefore we are happy for his return to continue with his good works,” he added.
