Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been sworn in on Friday as execute governor of Ondo State in Akure, the state capital.
Mr Akeredolu succeeded Olusegun Mimiko of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who ruled for eight years.
Mr Akeredolu defeated PDP’s Eyitayo Jegede in the November 26 governorship election.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and state governors of Kano, Ogun, Niger, Kogi, Sokoto and Oyo states attended the event.
Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum and governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, also graced the occasion.
In a surprise appearance, party leaders Bola Tinubu and Bisi Akande, who were not in support of Mr. Akeredolu’s governorship bid, also attended the event.
