Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied orchestrating the sack of the Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, at the appeal court.

Recall that on Monday, the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal had nullified the election victory of Mr Abbo and returned the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Amos Yohanna.

The three-member panel, presided over by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme, thereafter ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to issue a Certificate of Return to Mr Yohanna.

But reacting to the court judgment, Mr Abbo, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, accused Mr Akpabio of masterminding his sack.

According to him, Sen. Orji Uzor-Kalu and three other Senators who worked against the emergence of Mr Akpabio as Senate President had been targeted for removal from the Red Chamber through the court.

However, reacting to the allegations, Mr Akpabio, through his media aide, Eseme Eyiboh, said he has no reason to witch-hunt any of his colleagues.

He said: “It is unfortunate if he actually said that Akpabio was responsible for his removal. That’s the swan song of a man looking for scapegoats.

“The Court of Appeal across the country decides cases based on the provisions of the Electoral Act and evidence advanced by petitioners.
