Akpabio’s defection to APC hampered party’s prospect in Akwa Ibom – Attah

All Progressive Congress, APC chieftain and a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, has said that the defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio to the party had reversed its prospect of winning the next governorship election in the state.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that Mr Akpabio, a serving senator and an immediate past governor of the state, had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC, following an alleged fall-out with the Senate President Buko Saraki.

Until his defection, he was the Minority Leader in the Senate, a position he resigned from immediately after his defection.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Mr Attah criticised the senator for coming in to disrupt the APC and scuttle its chances of unseating the incumbent governor in the state.

Mr Attah, therefore, warned that Nigeria must restructure or die, saying that was the reason Nigeria flares its 76% of the gas produced from exploration.
