The United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, has expressed his support to President Muhammadu Buhari’s war against corruption, saying corruption is retarding the progress of the world.
Addressing the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Kerry made reference to Buhari’s fight against corruption and how individuals stole money meant for purchase of arms.
He said money that was meant for purchase of arms to fight the Boko Haram insurgency was stolen by military chiefs of the most populous black nation in the world.
“It has been reported that over 50 people including government officials stole over $9 billion in Nigeria.
“Today, corruption has grown at an alarming pace which threatens global growth, global stability and indeed the global future.
“There is absolutely nothing more demoralising to any citizen than the belief that the system is rigged against them.
“Corruption is a radicalizer because it destroys faith in legitimate authority,” he added.
