Aliyu Baba-Santali, a Jigawa PDP chieftain and former commissioner of Works and Housing under former governor Sule Lamido Baba, has defected to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
On December 11, five former commissioners who served under Mr Lamido namely Auwalu Harbo, commissioner of Special Duties; Jinjiri Dutse, commissioner of Rural Infrastructure; Yakubu Ruba, Attorney-General and commissioner of Justice; Nasidi Ali, commissioner of Agriculture and; Fatima Widi-Jalo, commissioner of Women Affairs.
Mr Baba-Santali announced his defection after receiving his APC membership card at his polling unit in Kazaure town on Friday.
Mr Baba-Santali was also a former council chairman of Kazaure Local Government council and had served as a special adviser under Saminu Turaki’s administration.
He said he dumped PDP for APC along with PDP chairmen and vice-chairmen of eight political wards in Kazaure local government as well as thousands of his supporters.
The former commissioner explained that he decamped to APC to complement President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar efforts towards the development of Jigawa and Nigeria in general.
He promised to work to ensure the party emerge victorious in the forthcoming general elections.
