A suicide bomber was killed on Saturday by an explosive device in another failed attempt to attack the University of Maiduguri in Borno state.
This is coming barely 24 hours after another failed attempt to attack the university’s female hostel by three suicide bombers, who died as a result.
But another attack was attempted at the university on Saturday morning when a male adult suicide bomber hid in the bush within the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) community surrounding, supposedly trying to gain access into university where students are gathering.
“Unfortunately for him the IED exploded and killed him. No casualty was recorded”, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, in northeast Nigeria said.
Emergency workers from NEMA and those of Borno state, BOSEMA, have been drafted to the scene.
The corpse of the suspected suicide bomber has been deposited at Borno specialist hospital, Mr Ibrahim said.
