The chairman of the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, has summoned an emergency meeting with Kano APC stakeholders.
Those invited for the meeting are Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau and some notable stakeholders from either side of the two camps.
At the Friday meeting, the two camps had tabled their proposals before the party leadership.
Sources familiar with the meeting said the governor was not disposed to ceding control of the party or giving key party positions to the Shekarau camp, but demanded names of their (Shekarau and others) loyalists for appointments in his government.
The Kano APC was torn apart following crisis between a faction led by Mr Ganduje and another led by Mr Shekarau.
The crisis had led to conduct of parallel ward, local government and state congresses, with Abdullahi Abbas emerging as state party chairman from Mr Ganduje’s camp and Ahmadu Danzago from Mr Shekarau’s camp.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the brain behind wresting the control of the party from the governor’s grip is the member representing Kano Municipal, Shaaban Sharada. He it was who sponsored all the congresses and legal tussle for the Shekarau camp.
The outcome of Saturday meeting
In a statement after the Saturday night meeting, spokesman for Mr Shekarau, Sule Yau Sule said the party has developed “a template of ALL INCLUSIVENESS” for the APC in Kano.
He said the details of who gets what would be made available to both sides on Monday.
