Appeal court upholds El-Rufai’s election victory

The Court of Appeal in Kaduna has upheld the victory of Governor Nasiru El-rufai at the 2019 governorship elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Isa Ashiru had approached the court, challenging the judgement of the election tribunal as well as the declaration of Mr El-Rufai as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

However, in its rulling on Thursday, the appellate court upheld the judgement of the tribunal, noting that the PDP candidate did not provide enough evidence to prove his case.

A five-man Justices, therefore, confirmed the stance of the tribunal.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the five-man panel of justices are made up of UI Anyanwu, HAO Abiru, TY Hassan, BM Ugo and BB Aliyu.
