The Court of Appeal sitting in Jos, Plateau State has upheld the election of Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress, APC, during the 2019 general elections.

Justice O.A. Otisi, in a unanimous judgement, affirmed the judgement of the Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld Mr Lalong’s election.

Justice Otisi held that Mr Lalong is educationally qualified to contest in the 2019 election.

However, the tribunal and the appellate court, dismissed Mr Useni’s petition and appeal respectively for “lacking in merits”.

Justice Otisi, while dismissing Mr Useni and PDP’s appeal, awarded the sum of N200,000 as cost to be paid to the 2nd and 3rd respondents.

The court, however, dismissed two cross-appeals filed by Mr Lalong and that of the APC for “lacking in merits” and abuse of processes.
