The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday arrived in Washington DC, United States of America to interface with members of the U.S.-Africa Business Center, USAFBC, and members of the US-Nigerian community in the US on his economic plans for the country.
A spokesperson of the PDP campaign council, Daniel Bwala, had on Thursday shared a letter from the US Chamber of Commerce, requesting a bilateral meeting with the former VP during his visit to the US.
The letter, which was dated October 24, 2022, and signed by Scott Eisner, President of USAFBC, proposed November 1, 2022, for the meeting.
“On behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Center (USAFBC), I would like to extend to you an invitation for a bilateral meeting with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Center during your visit to the United States.
“We would like to propose the meeting to be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Washington, DC. We are happy to consider an alternative date if the proposed date is not suitable.
“Indeed, we would be honored to welcome you for an off-the-record discussion to hear your perspective on how the U.S. corporate community can best support Nigeria’s economic development, especially the opportunities for expanding the economic partnership between our two nations.
“Recognizing the many demands on your schedule, we appreciate your consideration of this invitation,” part of the letter read.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that while in the US, the former vice president will use the opportunity of his visit to interact with the US-Nigerian top business leaders, members of the Nigerian business community and young Nigerian professionals living in the United States, on how to rebuild the Nigerian economy by improving foreign direct investment into the country.

He arrived in the US alongside the director of the PDP Presidential Campaign, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, campaign spokesperson, Dino Melaye, and Raymond Dokpesi.
