Atiku to Buhari: Stop rationalizing killing of Nigerians

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has tackled President Muhammadu Buhari over his claim that 90 per cent of Boko Haram’s victims were Muslims.

Recall that Mr Buhari on Tuesday declared that 90 per cent of all Boko Haram victims in the past years have been Muslims.

The president made the statement in an article published in Speaking Out; a guest opinion column for “Christianity Today”.

According to him, the perception that members of the sect were always targeting Christians in Nigeria is not completely true.

However, Mr Atiku in a swift reaction on his Facebook page, described the President’s position as rationalizing the killing of innocent Nigerians.

Mr Atiku said: “We must not rationalise killings. Whether Christian, Muslim, Traditionalist, or Atheist, the killing of any human being, by Boko Haram, or any other misguided group, is wrong and should be condemned unequivocally. There is no compulsion in religion, only love.”
