The National Security Council on Thursday disclosed plans to ban motorcycles and mining in a bid to cut off logistics and sources of funds to the terrorists across the country.
The meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, was attended by ministers and other government officials, took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Briefing correspondents at the end of the meeting, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, said the terrorists latch on mining and motorcycles to perpetrate their terror.
According to Mr Malami, the terrorists use motorcycles for movement and mining provides them with the money to fund their arms supply.
Mr Malami noted that terrorists have moved from the conventional ways of funding their activities to mining and ransom taking, making it necessary for the government to act.
Also speaking, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, affirmed that substantial efforts went into the gathering of intelligence before the recent attack on Kuje Correctional Center but regretted that there was an absence of will to act on it.
Mr Aregbesola noted that the preliminary investigation on the attack had been submitted to the president.
The minister assured that all those who are found to have shrieked their responsibilities at the end of the ongoing investigation, would be punished.
