The Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru-Abubakar, has welcomed Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State to the All Progressives Congress Party, APC.
The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Ahmad Danyaro, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
Mr Danyaro quoted the governor as saying so during a rally held in Gusau on Tuesday.
The governor said: “You are welcome to the progressives Team as the party consolidates it grip for electoral advantage in 2023”
“The mass defections across the country into the APC is a warning signal to the opposition that comes 2023 APC will form the government at the federal, states and local government level.”
According to the statement, the governor, who is also the Chairman of the APC Contact and Strategy Committee, further noted that Mr Matawalles defection was a sign that the party was strengthening.
“Matawalle’s decision to join the APC clearly shows that the effort of the caretaker commitee in returning the party back to glory days was yielding fruit,” the statement added.
