The Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has named a serving House of Representatives member, Auwal Jatau as his running for the 2023 election.
By picking Mr Jatau, the governor apparently dropped his deputy, Baba Tela, with whom he was elected in 2019.
Recall that after emerging as the governorship flagbearer in the state, after a rescheduled governorship primary, the governor had kept to his chest his running mate for the 2023 election.
But the governor ended the suspense during a stakeholders meeting where he announced the choice of Mr Jatau, who is a serving member representing Zaki Federal Constituency.
Speaking to journalists after his announcement, Mr Jatau expressed his appreciation to the governor for finding him worthy to be his running mate.
Mr Jatau, who is also a former Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, vowed to reciprocate the honour by being a loyal and supportive deputy.
