Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has refuted allegations leveled against him by a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who had just defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Recall that Mr Dogara, while disclosing his reasons for the defection, had claimed that failure or breakdown of governance in his native state of Bauchi under the administration of Governor Mohammed was responsible for leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a letter of resignation addressed to the Bogoro ‘C’ Ward Chairman of the PDP dated July 24, 2020, Mr Dogara noted that he could not successfully ask questions about those issues without being accused of disloyalty if he were to remain in the PDP.
He argued that if he abdicated this responsibility of telling the truth to power in Bauchi State, having done same under the administrations of former Governors Isa Yuguda and Mohammed Abubakar, he would be the most irresponsible and unprincipled politician in the state.
Responding, the Governor, while making his remarks on Tuesday when members of Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Constituency paid him a solidarity visit, described Mr Dogara as a pretender and fabricator of lies.
Mr Mohammed said: “It is a very regrettable development, it is unfortunate, because he is a young man that we so much love and appreciate, including me. Even now I don’t harbour any malice against him,” Inside Arewa quote the governor as saying.
“But he came to show his true colours as a pretender, as a fabricator of lies against my person, who has helped him to reconnect and recapture his mandate as a member of the House of Reps. after being expelled by my adversary, the former Governor.”
