At least thirteen people have been kidnapped in a fresh attack on Kurechin Giye village of Makera Ward in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The hoodlums reportedly carted away property worth millions of naira belonging to the residents.

A resident who pleaded anonymity told Channels TV that the victims comprised 12 married women and a man.

The source added that the hoodlums were armed with dangerous and sophisticated weapons and invaded the village late Monday.

He also disclosed that the attack lasted for hours without any security intervention or reinforcement.

“On their arrival, the hoodlums were said to have been splashing hot millet-inclined drink prepared by the residents to break the fast on small children and women and eventually carted away property worth millions of naira,” the resident said.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Kastina State Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident.

He, however, said that only five people were abducted.

“On the 25/3/2024 at about 1845 hrs, armed bandits wielding dangerous weapons attacked Kurecin Giye village, Dutsinma LGA, and kidnapped five (5) women.

“No life was lost and efforts are being made to ensure the unhurt rescue of the victims as the investigation proceeds. Further development will be communicated in due course, please,” he said.
