It was gathered that the incident took place Tuesday evening when the monarch was on his way to Kaduna for an official assignment.

A witness told Daily Trust that the emir was not in any of the vehicles during the attack.

The Emir’s driver, Umar Jibril, who confirmed the incident to the newspaper, said the bandits had appeared in front of their moving vehicles with guns and threw tree branches on the road in an attempt to force them to stop.
