Some gunmen have stormed Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting 16 persons in Magani and Tungan-Bako communities.

The gunmen, according to a report by The Nation, stormed the communities around 11am on Monday riding on motorcycles and shooting sporadically.

According to the report, eight villagers were kidnapped at Magami community while six were abducted at Tungan Bako.

A source disclosed that the gunmen had gone from house to house, abducting people and dispossessing them of their valuable items.

The Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Ibrahim Inga, confirmed the abduction but refused to give further details.
