The Bauchi State First Lady and the Chairperson of the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum, Hadiza MA Abubakar, has flagged off the EU-UNICEF MNCH social protection program and conditional cash transfer at Luda Local Government area of the state.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the program which is under the European Union- Maternal New-born Child Health, EU-MNCH, project, is to provide social protection program and conditional cash transfer for immunized babies.

According to Mrs Abubakar, the aim of the scheme is to encourage mothers to attend antenatal care, embrace hospital delivery and take advantage of free post-natal service and immunize their babies.

“We are starting small from 3 Wards in 3 local governments of Bauchi, Misau and Katagum. We hope to sustainably grow it to other communities in the state,” the first lady said.

Mrs Abubakar, therefore, called on all the stakeholders to rally round the program and spread it across the nooks and cranny of the state.

“You can join us to spread the message. We hope to grow a healthy state, one baby at a time,” she hoped.
