Despite the affirmation of Ali Modu Sheriff as the authentic national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, recently by a court, the Bauchi state chapter of the party said it still does not recognize him as its leader.
The chapter said its support and loyalty go to Ahmed Makarfi led faction.
Spokesperson of the party in the state, Yayanuwa Zainabari, told journalists on Monday in Bauchi that after a meeting and careful consideration of the situation on ground, the chapter unanimously decided to support the Mr Makarfi-led faction.
He said the decision to support Mr Makarfi’s leadership was taken after the party’s expanded executive council meeting, which took place on Sunday.
Mr Zainabari said the meeting was attended by all members of the state PDP working committee, local government party chairmen and all its elected representatives in the state.
“We support the Makarfi leadership of the PDP because we believe in what was decided in Port Harcourt during the party’s convention.
“We also support the decision by Senator Ahmed Makarfi leadership to appeal the court judgement, which declared Sheriff as the PDP National chairman,” he said.
