A stunning Accra Edition of Monopoly has been launched at the Kempinsky Hotel, Gold Coast City, Accra, ending months of research during which residents were asked which streets and landmarks should take pride of place on the customized board.

The images of Mr. Monopoly, Advance to Go and the ‘Free Parking’ spaces are etched permanently in the hearts and minds of people across the country. Several memorable family moments have been defined by the playing of the game and it is such moments that this special edition aims to revive amongst the youth and other segments of the population, according to the promoters.
The million-dollar question on everyone’s lips is – what prime Accra landmark will take the Mayfair Square – the most coveted real estate in the familiar London edition? With its host of iconic landmarks and historic sites, the choice of the “Mayfair” spot was a hot topic. Which landmark will be traded for ‘Trafalgar Square’?
Created by Winning Moves U.K., on licence from makers Hasbro, the Accra edition of this world acclaimed board game, is brought to Ghana by Bestman Games, the African distributor of customized editions of Hasbro’s Monopoly Board Game and ICL in collaboration with Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. It also enjoys the support of leading financial institutions including Fidelity Bank, Zenith Bank, and First Atlantic Bank who are committed to promoting financial literacy across Ghana.
According to the promoters, Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism aims to use this novel tool to educate people about some of the laws of the city, to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and to showcase some of Ghana’s stunning tourist sites and monuments.
