A Lebanese engineer abducted by gunmen on Tuesday at a Kano construction site has been killed by the kidnappers, DAILY NIGERIAN has gathered.
Police said his body was found at a village near Mariri on the outskirt of Kano city on Thursday.
The expatriate, an engineer with Triacta Construction Company, was abducted on Tuesday morning at Dangi flyover construction site, killing his driver on the spot.
Spokesman for Kano Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the death of the Lebanese to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying the commissioner of police, Mohammed Wakili, had summoned an emergency meeting to tackle the situation.
Asked about whether ransom demand was made by the abductors, he said investigation into the matter is ongoing and that the police are currently in contact with the family.
Mr Kiyawa, a deputy superintendent of police, said the remains of the foreign worker have been deposited at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.
