Boko Haram ransacks Gov. Gaidam’s hometown, abducts 2 women

Two women, a mother and daughter have been abducted as Boko Haram Wednesday evening in Gaidam, Yobe state, razing down several homes within and outside the low-cost buildings in the town.

As at Wednesday night, at least two corpses were also seen on the ground with one wearing a military uniform while several residents escaped with bullet wounds, Tribune online quoted a source as reliably saying.

The attack which sources said started at about 17 hours, lasted till about nine pm local time due to the resistance of the troops of the Nigerian Army who first retreated, waiting for air power before returning to chase the insurgents out of the frontline.

“After the pounding by troops of the Nigerian airforce, calm returned to the town and some people were seen trying to go back to their homes which were not destroyed completely.

Geidam the council area of Governor Ibrahim Geidam was equally laid waste by Boko Haram insurgents in 2015 before the restoration to its present peaceful status.

Hundreds of internally displaced people IDP’S had returned home before the present torments from the Boko Haram insurgents.
