Several people sustained injuries following a clash between the operatives of the Kano Road Traffic Agency, KAROTA, and roadside motor park operators on Wednesday.

Sporadic gunshots were heard in the area as police were deployed to restore peace.

The motor park touts went on rampage, set bonfires and vandalised vehicles after a ban on illegal motor parks was announced by the state government.

Daily Nigerian reporter counted at least 29 damaged vehicles.

The incident occurred around 9:00 am today as the KAROTA agents descended on the motor park operators along Zaria Road who defied their directives to vacate the place.

Police spokesman in Kano, Magaji Majia, confirmed the incident, saying normalcy has returned to the area after deployment of police.
