The Borno Scholarship Board says it has begun registration of over 40,000 indigent students for bursary award during the 2021/2022 academic session.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Bala Isa, told journalists on Tuesday in Maiduguri that the board had opened its portal, to enable the students enroll into the scheme.
“The portal for new applicants opened at 12:00 pm on Tuesday. The board is ready to receive applications from eligible indigenes who secured admission into tertiary institutions of learning across the country.
“The portal is open only for 2021/2022 academic session via www.scholarship.bo.gov.ng.
“Successful applicants are expected to print out their registration form and submit to the board for documentation,” Isa said.
He said the students were expected to be present evidence of registration in an existing institution, birth certificate, indigene letter, bank account, BVN and NIN number.
Isa said the board captured 22,164 students and cleared 15,154 during the 2020/2021 registration exercise.
Also speaking, Abubakar Wajiro, Chairman, National Union of Borno State Students, NUBOSS, lauded the state government for its commitment towards sustainable education development.
Mr Wajiro said the gesture would go a long way in encouraging the students to achieve academic excellence.
