President Muhammadu Buhari has said he has not purchased any property since he became Nigeria’s president in 2015.
Mr Buhari, who has been in London for a routine medical treatment, disclosed this after a meeting with King Charles III on Wednesday.
He said all his properties are those he owned before becoming president, adding that he was not “very much interested in having assets all over the place”.
Mr Buhari had met with the British Monarch for the first time since ascension to the throne in September.
On Thursday, a presidential aide, Tolu Ogunlesi, shared a video on Twitter of the President speaking on the outcome of his conversation with the king.
“He asked me whether I have a house here. I said ‘no’. Even in Nigeria, the only houses I have are those I had before I got into government.
“I’m not very much interested in having assets all over the place. I feel much freer when I have nothing.”
