Suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Thursday killed seven soldiers in an ambush on military convoy along Ajiri-Dikwa road in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Credible sources told DAILY NIGERIAN on Friday that the troops were attacked around 7:30pm when they were escorting about 200 newly-trained soldiers from Maiduguri to Dikwa.
“The soldiers engaged them in the encounter, but it was so fierce that seven soldiers were killed and three were still missing,” said a source who preferred not to be named.
Sources said the insurgents carted away arms and ammunition.
In June last year, troops of 112 Battalion on patrol from Mafa to Dikwa were ambushed at Ajiri village by Boko Haram terrorists. Although they successfully repelled the ambush, one soldier died, while an officer and three soldiers sustained various degrees of injury.
