Adama Barrow has been sworn in as the President of The Gambia at the country’s embassy in Senegal.
Mr Barrow won an election in December, but his predecessor, Yahya Jammeh, has refused to step down.
Mr. Barrow called for support, saying his victory is a victory for the Gambians. “This a victory for the Gambians, our flag will fly high among democratic countries,” he said in his speech.
He also called on the nation’s armed forces to return to barracks.
