The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has tested positive for Coronavirus, following his contact with the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
A statement on Tuesday signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media, Mukhtar Gidado, who confirmed the development, said the test carried out by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, indicated that the governor is the only one positive for the disease, out of the six people that accompanied him to Lagos.
“At this point, it should be noted that the governor is in self-isolation as his doctors and official NCDC have taken full charge of his quarantine.
“His Excellency solicits for prayers for all and request that all those who had contact with him or anyone who has the same medical condition to go for the test immediately in order to avert further spread of the COVID-19 epidemic,” Mr Gidado stated.
Recall that the governor had disclosed that he had Governor of Bauchi State, gone on self-isolation following contact with the son of Atiku Abubakar.
Disclosing the development on his Twitter handle, the governor’s Chief of Staff, Ladan Salihu, the duo had had contact after boarding the same flight from Abuja to Lagos.
