President Muhammadu Buhari has finally sacked the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and Director-General of the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oye.
Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said in a tweet on Monday that the president has approved the appointment of Boss Mustapha as the new SGF.
Mr Mustapha, like his predecessor, hails from Adamawa State.
On August 23, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s committee which investigated allegations of corruption against Messrs Lawal and Oke, submitted two reports to the president.
The vice president, who addressed State House correspondents after the closed door event said that the president would act on the detailed recommendations in the interest of the Nigerian people.
On April 19, Mr Buhari suspended Mr Lawal and ordered an investigation into the allegations of violations of law and due process made against him in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East, PINE.
On the same day, the president also directed the suspension of Mr Oke, pending the outcome of the investigation.
A three-man committee comprising Mr Osinbajo, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Munguno, was appointed to probe them.
