A Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu, Yobe State Capital on Wednesday declared Bashir Machina as the APC’s authentic senatorial candidate for Yobe North in the coming 2023 National Assembly elections.
Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Fadima Aminu, directed INEC to accept and publish his name.
The Judge affirmed Machina as the duly and validly elected Yobe North senatorial candidate for APC thereby upholding the May 28 primary election of the Party that produced him.
Mr Machina had won the May 28 APC senatorial primary for the Yobe North, the district where Senate President Ahmad Lawan is representing at the Senate.
But the party substituted Mr Machina’s name with Mr Lawan’s after the latter lost his presidential aspiration to Bola Tinubu during the party’s national convention in Abuja.
