BREAKING: Ex-Taraba governor, Danbaba Suntai, is dead

A former governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Suntai, has died in a US hospital on Wednesday, his former spokesman, Emmanuel Bello, confirmed to DAILY NIGERIAN.

Mr Suntai, 66, suffered serious injuries after surviving a plane crash in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State in August 2012.

Born 30 June 1961, Mr Suntai, a pharmacist, was elected as Executive Governor of Taraba State on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in April 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May 2007.

He was reelected on April 26, 2011 after serving a four-year tenure.
