A former Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Coomasie, has died at the age of 76.
Close family sources, including the deceased orderly, confirmed to DAILY NIGERIAN that he died at Orthopaedic Hospital, Katsina at 6pm on Thursday.
Sources said he was rushed to the Orthopedic Hospital in Katsina around 11am in the morning, regain his consciousness after an hour and gave up around 5pm.
He was the longest serving Inspector General of Police, having served from 1993 to 1999.
Mr Coomassie held the traditional titles of Sardauna Katsina of Emir of Katsina and Garkuwan Hausa of Daura.
The family said his funeral prayer would be performed after the Jumaat prayers at the Bani Coomassie Mosque in GRA, Katsina.
He is survived by one wife, six children and many grand children.
