The immediate-past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr Dogara, who dumped APC and joined PDP in the buildup to the 2019 general election, represents Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
The former speaker was led by the chairman of the APC caretaker committee and governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, to see President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
Although Mr Dogara’s spokesman, Turaki Hassan, did not respond to our reporter’s telephone call, sources at the Presidency confirmed defection of the former speaker to the ruling party.
