Sixteen condemned prisoners and several other inmates have escaped as gunmen attacked Minna Medium Security Prison on Sunday evening.
DAILY NIGERIAN reliably gathered that the attackers took the advantage of heavy downpour to storm the prison around 7:pm.
The prison guards reportedly fled from the superior firepower of the gunmen.
The attackers however killed a warder reporting to work and a motorcyclist who carried him .
The gun duel lasted for more than an hour until security reinforcement forced the attackers to retreat.
On December 6, 2014, over 300 prisoners escaped from the prison when gunmen attacked the facility to free inmates.
Police are yet to speak on the incident.
