BREAKING: INEC declares PDP’s Fintiri winner of Adamawa governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, NEC, has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Ahmadu Fintiri, winner of the Adamawa governorship election.

He beat the incumbent governor, Jibrilla Bindow with a margin of 40,166 votes.

Announcing the results of the Thursday governorship supplementary election at the INEC office in Yola early Friday morning, the state Returning Officer, Andrew Haruna, said the PDP candidate scored a total of 376,552 votes to defeat the candidate of the APC, Jibrilla Bindow, who got 336,386 votes.

“That Umar Ahmadu of the PDP, having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby returned elected,” Mr Haruna said.
