The kidnapped Nasarawa State Chairman of the All Progressives Party, APC, Philip Shekwo, has been killed allegedly by his abductors.
The state secretary of the party, Aliyu Bello, confirmed the report to DAILY NIGERIAN on Sunday.
Sources said the APC Chairman was gunned down by the kidnappers during a gun duel with security operatives in an effort to rescue him.
“What we are not sure of is whether it a stay bullet from the security men that hit the Chairman or the gunmen intentionally killed him because security operatives trailed the kidnappers exchanging gunfire back to back,” the security source told DAILY NIGERIAN.
It was also gathered that the remains of the party chairman is presently lying in his house along Jos Road, behind Taal Model School, Lafia, the state capital.
Mr Shekwo was kidnapped Saturday night in his after one hour gun battle.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, who confirmed the incidence said he was abducted in his house around 11 pm.
“Unidentified gunmen in large number stormed the resident of the APC Chairman in Lafia around 11 O’clock in the evening, last night and took him away to an unknown destination,” Mr Longe had said.
