Armed kidnappers numbering about 50 on Wednesday abducted 10 people in Kuriga village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Multiple sources in the village told DAILY NIGERIAN that the kidnappers stormed the village two hours past midnight and shot sporadically to scare away the local vigilante.
Aliyu Bello, a resident whose brother and son were abducted from the same village two weeks ago, said the hoodlums broke into dozens of houses in operation that lasted for three hours.
“When they came around 2am, the sound of their gunshots awakened us and threw the whole village in uncertainty. They used digger to break our doors and abduct people.
“They successfully abducted six men and four women from different houses. We are all migrating to Birnin Gwari. Kidnapping has become a daily routine in this area.
“We can’t afford to pay the huge ransom they demand from us. My brother and son are still with them as we are only able to raise N1million out of the N30million they demanded,” he told DAILY NIGERIAN.
Spokesman for Kaduna Police Command, Yakubu Sabo, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
