A Max Air Boeing 737 flight from Lagos has crash landed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at 10:57pm.
One of the passengers who confirmed the incident to DAILY NIGERIAN said the airplane lost its nose landing gear tire during landing.
“Immediately after touchdown, the tire burst and caught fire. The aircraft then skidded to a halt on the runway,” said a passenger who prefers anonymity.
According to him, the passengers were immediately evacuated, and no report of injury among them.
The airline on Wednesday apologized to the passengers for the incident, confirming that all the passengers were unhurt.
“We wish to inform the public that one of our aircraft experienced an incident upon landing in Kano yesterday. Our crew handled the situation professionally, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members. There were no injuries, and the aircraft has since been removed from the runway as of 04:28.
“As a result, the Kano runway will remain temporarily closed for inspection and clearance, which may lead to some delays in flight operations today, Wednesday, 29/01/2025. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience as we await further updates on the runway reopening.
“Our Max Air engineering team continues to demonstrate excellence in handling such situations. We will keep you informed on the status of flight schedules,” the airline said in the statement.
