Residents in their hundreds fled their homes Friday night following an attack by Boko Haram terrorists in Jere Local Government Area of Borno.
According to SaharaReporters, the attack occurred at about 7:50pm in Balle Shuwari Village, about eight kilometres away from Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri.
The newspaper said the terrorists were shooting sporadically upon arriving the community, prompting the villagers to run, to avoid being killed.
However, a source said that General Commanding Officer of the 7 Division of the Nigeria Army along with armed troops were seen heading towards the community.
It could not be confirmed if any death occurred during the attack, as officials are yet to make official statements about it.
