The General Council of the World Trade Organization, WTO, says it will consider appointment of next Director-General next week Monday.
Recall that Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is the lone candidate for the job, following the stepping down of another contender, Korean Minister last week.
The organisation, in a statement titled, ‘WTO General Council to consider appointment of next Director-General’ posted on its website on Tuesday, said a special meeting of its General Council will hold on February 15.
“The WTO’s General Council will hold a special meeting on 15 February at 15:00 Geneva time to consider the appointment of the next Director-General. The meeting will take place in virtual format,” the statement added.
