President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly been booed by the residents of Maiduguri, Borno State during his sympathy visit, following Auno attack which killed over 30 people in the state.
Our correspondent gathered that the residents who turned up in their numbers expressed their anger at the President, chanting ‘Ba ma so’ slogan – meaning: ‘down with you’.
“From the airport right into the Maiduguri metropolis people thronged in their usual numbers but this time to boo the President for his seeming insensitivity to the plight of the people,” an eyewitness told DAILY NIGERIAN.
Recall that the President had rounded up his official trip in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and flew back to Nigeria to sympathise with the victims of Auno attack in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Recall that Mr President had been in Ethiopia for an African Union summit.
However, following the Auno attack by the Boko Haram insurgents last Sunday which killed about 30 people, and the attendant reactions by Nigerians, the President had thought it wise to come back into the country to show his respect for the dead ones.
A terse statement by a Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, said: “12:45pm. President Buhari, aboard the BBJ from Addis Ababa just landed in Maiduguri.
“He is paying a sympathy visit to the government and people of Borno following the recent horrific incident in which BH terrorists killed several travelers.”
