Buhari in closed door meeting with Sultan, other monarchs at Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with representatives of traditional rulers across the six geopolitical zones, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar.

The meeting, which is taking place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, has in attendance the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ife, the Emir of Kano, Etsu Nupe, Chairman, Imo State Traditional rulers among others.

The agenda of the meeting is yet to be made public as at the time of filing this report.

The meeting was aimed at solving the various issues plaguing youths in the country.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr Buhari stressed that his administration was keen on addressing the demands of the country’s youths.

“We have heard the loud cries of our youth and children, and we are attending to their concerns.”

“To succeed in all of this, we would require your support and voice to help amplify the message. Your proximity to the people places you in a unique position to communicate and ensure that our response is targeted and impactful.”

He hailed the Traditional rulers for their role in calming the situation and appealing to the protesting youths.

“I want to once again thank you for the role you all have played to calm down our youth with wisdom and authority. By instilling hope and keeping the peace, you have rendered the country great service.”

He also disclosed that the Nigerian Police Force will also undergo much needed reform that covers welfare, working conditions, and code of conduct.

The monarchs also submitted recommendations to the President who promised to study them and take appropriate action.
