Buhari lands in Maiduguri to celebrate Independence with troops

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria on Sunday arrived in Maiduguri, the Bormo state capital to Commemorate the 57th Independence Day celebration with troops and people of the state.

Although there has not been an official announcement of the president’s visit, information however filtered in hours after the Independence Broadcast Speech by the president.

The visit has the intent of rejuvenating the spirit of  the troops, who already have all the service chiefs ahead of Mr Buhari’s arrival.

During his visit, Mr Buhari congratulated the military for the efforts they were making to return peace to Borno State and indeed the northeast.

He appreciated the people of Borno state for being patient with the government and for their support to the Nigerian military in the fight against insurgency in the region.

Some pictures released by the presidency in the social media showed the president being led round military hardwires, including Armoured Personnel Carriers.
