Buhari receives 2021 Budget for assent

President Muhammadu Buhari has received the N13.082 trillion 2021 appropriation bill from the National Assembly.

Recall that the NASS had on Monday, December 21, passed the sum of N13.5 trillion budget for 2021 fiscal year, representing an increase of 5.05 billion from the N13.08 trillion presented by Mr Buhari in October.

Confirming the receipt of the bill by Mr Buhari, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Babajide Omoworare, said the bill “is presently being looked at by Mr President”.

He said: “This is to confirm that the Appropriation Bill has been transmitted by the National Assembly to Mr. President in conformity with the provision of Section 59 of the Constitution.

According to him, the bill “is presently being looked at by Mr President and consequential executive action will be taken in due course”.

Recall that Mr Buhari had on October 8 submitted the N13.082 trillion budget christened, “budget of economic recovery and resilience” to a joint session of the National Assembly.

The budget comes with a projected revenue of N7.89 trillion, expenditure of N13.08 trillion and a deficit of N5.02 trillion, which is 64% of projected revenue.
