The governor of Zamfara State, Abdula’ziz Yari, said on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the payment of refund for federal roads projects executed by the state government.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that although the governor did not reveal the amount to be released, but the Senate had in August 2018 approved N60.02 billion as refund to the state for the projects.
NAN recalls that N489 billion was approved by the Senate for 21 states that executed federal roads projects based on the request presented to it by Mr Buhari.
Mr Yari however said during the All Progressives Congress, APC campaign rally in Shinkafi that the refund would be judiciously utilized for the benefit of the people across the state.
“President Buhari has already signed for the payment of the money for the refund to Zamfara.
“I am giving you assurance that if the federal government releases the money, even if I am not the one in power many development projects will be executed with it.
“I have confidence that our APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Muktar Shehu-Idris will use all the resources judiciously.
“I believe he will not disappoint us, he will continue with the meaningful development projects initiated by this administration.
“I want you to vote for him as our next governor and his running mate, Alhaji Ahmad Gummi as deputy governor,” he added.
Mr Yari noted that his administration had fulfilled all the campaign promises made for Shinkafi local government area in 2015.
“All the major promises I made for Shinkafi people in 2015 my administration had fulfilled them,” he said, citing roads, education, health and empowerment projects executed in the area.
The governor, therefore, appealed to voters in Shinkafi Local Government area to vote massively for Buhari and all other APC candidates in the forthcoming general election.
He described Buhari as an honest and transparent leader who has good mission for the future of the country.
Earlier, the State APC chairman, Lawal Liman, commended the crowd of party supporters at the rally for their loyalty and urged them to vote all APC candidates during the February 16 and March 2, 2019 general elections.
