Buni appoints 14-man committee on adoption of contributory pension scheme

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the appointment of the acting Head of Service, Muhammad Nura and 13 others as chairman and members of a committee for the adoption of the contributory pension scheme in the State.

A statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Baba Mallam-Wali said that the committee would, among others, study how the scheme is being implemented in other states and advise government on the best options possible.

According to him, the committee will suggest to government the service age limit of the employees to be enrolled and the percentage of contribution to be made by each employee on monthly basis.

“The committee will also prepare a draft bill for consideration by the State Executive Council in addition to any matter that in the opinion of the committee will add value to the proposed scheme,” the statement added.

The statement noted that those appointed as members are Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, Permanent Secretary Administration and General Service, Permanent Secretary Service Welfare Office, Permanent Secretary Establishment, Solicitor General/Permanent Ministry of Justice and Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Others are Permanent Secretary Ministry of Budget and Planning, Chairman NLC, Chairman NUT, Chairman TUC, Executive Secretary Local Government Pension Board, State Director Pension while Deputy Director Admin, PSO, will serve as Member and Co-Secretary of the Committee.
